Flynn Johnson has released “MURDER PT II (w/ Rebel Phoenix, Mango & whoisdays)”, a sequel and substantial reworking of “MURDER” from his 2025 debut album THE GREEN BOX THEORY.
Flynn rearranged the production and wrote an entirely new verse for the track, with Rebel Phoenix and Mango joining him across a more cypher-style structure. whoisdays returns with the hook from the original recording, while Benza’s additional production also carries through into the new version.
The original “MURDER” centred on a younger Flynn responding to rumours and provocation with increasingly aggressive warnings. For PT II, that outside confrontation is gone. The focus moves to how he behaved with his friends around him, when the front became harder and the language more forceful.
“The original ‘MURDER’ always felt like it needed a second part. I was always a bit braver when I had the lads around me. The warnings got more aggressive and the demeanour got harder, even though a lot of it was for show. PT II is what happens when you’ve got a group already feeding off each other.”

Flynn approached Rebel Phoenix and Mango because their writing reminded him of different personalities from the groups he grew up around. He saw something quieter and more calculated in Rebel Phoenix’s perspective, and something more volatile in Mango’s. Both are artists whose work he had followed for years before bringing them onto the record.
whoisdays links the two versions directly through the returning hook, while Flynn, Rebel Phoenix and Mango each bring new verses around it.
The Mango collaboration had already made its way onstage before release. At All Together Now 2026, he made a surprise appearance during Flynn’s set for an early live performance of “MURDER PT II”.
The track also brings Flynn back into the setting of THE GREEN BOX THEORY. Released in November 2025, the album is rooted in Dublin 15 and uses the green electricity box as a recurring meeting point across stories of friendship, reputation, grief, humour and growing up. “MURDER PT II” picks up one part of that record and develops it through the people around Flynn.
