Flynn Johnson

Flynn Johnson has become a distinctive presence in Irish hip-hop, combining introspective lyricism with sharp cultural commentary. Raised in Blanchardstown, he translates his environment and experiences into immersive storytelling and precise rhyme schemes. His work circles the estates of Dublin, turning local detail into songs that resonate far beyond it, marking him out as a compelling voice in modern Irish music.

His debut album, THE GREEN BOX THEORY, released on 7 November 2025 via Golden Éire Records, sits at the centre of his practice. The record fixes Dublin 15 in the mid-to-late 2000s, tracing the “children of the hill” who learn to find beauty in a place others tend to call broken. Described by Johnson as “a love letter to the estate and a thank-you note for the lessons it taught me”, the album moves between themes of friendship, bravado, sorrow and survival. At its core sits the green electricity box: meeting point, memorial and recurring narrator across the project.

Praised by Plastic Magazine for his “unfiltered storytelling and profound societal insight”, Johnson has received international acclaim for his “brutal authenticity” and keen social perspective. Singles such as “BLANK’D (feat. dib)” and “MURDER (feat. whoisdays)” deepen the album’s world, charting heartbreak, rumour and reputation with an attention to detail that is fast defining his voice in contemporary Irish hip-hop.
